Cuisines Sagne / History

A master cabinet maker, Andre SAGNE created his company in 1949 after 8 years of apprenticeship.
It was in his native town of La Reole, deep in the wine country near Bordeaux in South West France, that he developed his craft and opened a modest workshop of 100 m2 initially producing white lacquered units for gas stoves.
After four successful years the small workshop was enlarged and became the Company Andre SAGNE - Mirail Factory - with a floor area of 1,000 m2. By the end of the 1950s twenty staff were employed in the manufacture of dressers and kitchen units faced in laminate, Sales exploded. Until then sales had been limited to the surrounding area but the Sagne products had gained noteriety further afield.
By the 1960s France was in full economic growth and the kitchen market was rapidly expanding. Andre SAGNE continued to expand his factory and concentrated on using premier materials being produced specifically for kitchens, especially ‘ Formica’. At the same time the manufacturing of solid oak doors and complimentary items was introduced to complete the range. The skill and know how of the craftsmen propelled demand to a national level. SAGNE soon became renown for artistry in wood.
The newly constructed Frimont Factory opened in 1975 committed to craftsmanship in wood and dedicated solely to the production of rustic kitchens finished meticulously by hand. To this day this factory is still working only in wood and much of the work is still carried out by hand. 10 years later the historic Mirail Factory closed its doors and in 1986 a purpose built state of the art 10,000m2 factory adjacent to the Frimont Factory began production. This factory was created to produce contemporary kitchens as well as housing despatch, design and development, and all commercial and administration offices.
CuisineSAGNE, previously known as Cuisine AS, has been exporting for 30 years to the UK, Scandanavia, Belgium, Switzerland, Baltic States and now Russia.
Andre SAGNE has always believed in competent, consciencious and faithful personnel both on the shop floor and in management.
His sons Philippe and Pascal, aided by grandson Antony, have now accepted the baton to perpetuate the adventure, the dream of their father.
